Yesterday, on June 2, 2026, Eric Ogai, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on Adaptive Sports and Cooperation with Veteran Organizations of the FPAIR, visited the world-renowned Five Sides of the World martial arts school, located in the picturesque village of Khalimbekaul in the Republic of Dagestan.
This meeting was not only official, but also deeply symbolic. It was held in a warm and friendly atmosphere, bringing together key figures who were at the forefront of the development of martial arts in the country: the founders of the Five Sides of the World school, Huseyn and Olga Magomayev, as well as Vladimir Ivashin, the first president of the USSR Wushu Federation.
The meeting was particularly significant because it took place on the 36th anniversary of the official unification of all martial arts in Dagestan into the Dagestan Federation of Martial Arts (DFMA). Today, this federation is headed by Magomedamin Gadzhiev, who is also the First Vice-President of the Russian Federation of Practical Athletic Multi-Events (FPAMR). This fact highlights the continuity of generations and the inseparable connection between different branches of martial arts.
During the meeting, they remembered the first students of Huseyn Magomayev, one of the patriarchs of karate and wushu in the country, including Erik Pavlovich Ogay.
Eric Ogai presented in detail the concept of the development of practical athletic all-around (PAM) in Russia, describing its potential and prospects. Gussein Saigidovich Magomayev, who was at the origins of many great initiatives, highly appreciated the work being carried out and emphasized the particular relevance of PAM in light of the ongoing changes in the international situation. He noted that the development of disciplines included in PAM and combining various physical and mental skills is an important step towards strengthening the national sports identity and training well-rounded individuals.
